About Arlinks
Late Mr. Azimur Rahman founded Arlinks Limited in 1972, which was one of the pioneers in the Power sector of Bangladesh. Arlinks completed many successful projects in the Power Sector by supplying Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Automation and auxiliary equipments. Arlinks represented BBC in Bangladesh from its (Arlinks) commencement. In 1988, BBC Switzerland merged with ASEA, Sweden and a new Conglomerate was established named “ ASEA BROWN BOVERI (ABB) “ based in Switzerland. ARLINKS – ABB achieved high market share in the Power Sector by supplying state of the art equipments in various projects. Arlinks has a very good reputation and image in Bangladesh. Arlinks had represented LTB Leitungsbau GmbH, Germnay for Overhead Transmission Line Projects in Bangladesh. LTB Leitungsbau GmbH is one of the leading companies in the field of power transmission and engineering. With its comprehensive business activities in new constructions of overhead lines, service, maintenance and retrofit they are the partner of electric power utilities throughout the world.
The main clients of Arlinks were
1) Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) is responsible for generating, transmitting and distributing Power to selected areas.
2) Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) is mainly responsible for transmitting power all over the country.
3) Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) is responsible for distributing power to the end users in Dhaka city and its adjacent areas.
4) Dhaka Electric Supply Company (DESCO) is also responsible for distributing power in a few places in Dhaka city.
5) Rural Electrification Board (REB) is responsible for distributing power to end -users mainly concentrated in the rural areas.
The Other Clients were Government, Semi Government organizations like Fertilizer Plants, Paper & Pulp Industries, Cement Plants, Bangladesh Railways (BR), Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC), Chittagong Port Authority (CPA), Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Zia International Airport and other Private Industries and Projects.
Arlinks had also supplied various industrial equipments for Textile, Dairy, Gas, Chemical projects. And has represented many multinational companies.
From 1980 the company diversified its business into many other sectors. It ventured into insurance, Media, Agro base industries, Real States, Financial Institution, Security etc business.
After the death of the Founder Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Azimur Rahman, Mrs. Rokia Afzal Rahman became the Chairman.
Mrs. Rokia Afzal Rahman is a former adviser in the Caretaker Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. She has also held the position of Director of Bangladesh Bank. She is the former President of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industries – MCCI Dhaka. Mrs. Rahman is the vice president of ICC Bangladesh.
